Average review score:

America's best jazz/blues beat poetHoward Hart's poems inhabit that exotic place where color, music and modern psychological landscape meet. From Chagall to Paul Klee, from Mozart to Charlie Parker, from Hiroshima to midtown Manhattan, these poems create a highly lyrical, almost cinematic context from which to interpret contemporary American experience.

Howard Hill, the man and the legend
Published in Unknown Binding by Charger Productions ()
Average review score:

The reveiw of "Howard Hill, the man and the legend"The book is a biography of a man who truely mastered an art form. In it, the author touches on when Howard was a boy and his lesson in hunting ethics. This sets the standard for what Howard became, and is potrayed through out the novel as countless stroies are told about him. The author did a good job of detailing Howard's life. From his hunting adventures and bow makings, to his life in the movies and archery exhibitions. The book gives the reader the chance to meet the man who mastered archery like no other.

Howard Hughes in Las Vegas

Howard Hughes in Las VegasHoward Hughes is an odd figure in our history. Omar V. Garrison was an investigative journalist that sorted out confusing mysteries in an easy to understand manner. Although this book is out of print, it is still sought after because it explains many aspects of the mystery of Howard Hughes.
The author writes about Hughes' secret career as a portrait photographer and playboy in disguise; the tragic accident in which he killed a stranger in a sudden and fateful encounter beyond his control; his absentee marriage to former film star Jean Peters; and his running battle with the Atomic Energy Commission in an all-out effort to halt the underground testing of nuclear bombs in Nevada.

Howard Stern's Guidelines for the Sensitive Man (Unwritten Classics)

Average review score:

A very easy book to reviewHOWARD STERN'S GUIDELINES FOR THE SENSITIVE MAN is a very easy book to review ... because it's blank! Get it? Apparently, Howard has no advice to offer in this regard. This book is intended for a journal of some sort.
Cute gag! =)

Howard Thurman: The Mystic as Prophet
Published in Paperback by Friends United Press (August, 1997)
Average review score:

Tremendous resourceThis book provides valuable information and insight into the life and thoughts of Howard Thurman.
I've often heard Thurman quoted by others and even referred to as an inspiration but I often think those individuals have only experienced Thurman's work on a superficial level. Luther Smith goes far beyond that to look at the major influences on Thurman's thought and reveal much about a spiritual giant of our time.

Howard Zinn on History
Published in Paperback by Seven Stories Press (30 November, 2000)
Average review score:

InspiringIn this collection of essays, Zinn writes about history in a way that makes it fascinating and utterly relevant to society today. The underlying theme of his writing is that of people seeking freedom and well-being, individually and in bodies, in spite of all efforts to thwart and exploit them. My only complaint about this book is that it is not unified work (like his book _A People's History of the United States_). But it's magnificent nonetheless, and can be read essay by essay. I wish Howard Zinn and Daniel Quinn (_Ishmael_) would combine their talent and insight, because I think Zinn's passion and historical understanding could benefit fantastically from Quinn's cool philosophical analysis.

Hugs for New Moms: Stories, Sayings, and Scriptures to Encourage and the Inspire The Heart
Published in Hardcover by Howard Publishing (01 January, 2002)
Average review score:

A wonderful gift! This book was one of the best gifts I was given upon the birth of our daughter a little over a year ago. It combines prayer, scripture and uplifting stories in a compact form. (Being a "quick" read is a must for new moms!) I found it to be a source of inspiration when I felt overwhelmed and comfort when I felt anxious. This book helped me to pray in a meaningful way in a time when I needed it the most...and felt the least like I had time to do it.
I highly reccomend that amidst the flurry of stuffed animals and tiny outfits for the new baby, you give this book (and maybe some nice shower gel and fuzzy slippers!) to the new mom. If she's anything like me, she'll always appreciate it and never forget it!

Hunger and Shame: Child Malnutrition and Poverty on Mt. Kilimanjaro
Published in Paperback by Routledge (June, 1997)
Average review score:

Buy this bookThis is the single most important book on African poverty you are likely to read. Ok, it doesn't compare with the scope of Cliffe's The African Poor. But it is very powerfully written and extremely insightful. Those familiar with participatory assessments will know they often find that respondents blame the poor for their plight (not surprising, we do the same in developed countries) - but these results are usually ignored by the researchers. This book demonstrates how important this finding is - not because the poor ARE to blame for their poverty, but because the stigma attached to being poor creates a social poverty trap.

The Hunters.
Published in Hardcover by Delacorte Press (December, 1976)

Great thriller.......Howard is brilliant with this story of a serial killer of cops. Very exciting and has some lovely twists to it. Not an easy book to get hold of. The author has done some fine work: The Wardens, The Zebra Killings, Five against the Rock (non-fiction) and Dirt Rich amongst them. Where are you Clark ? Been looking for another.
